John Xerri de Caro graduated as a physiotherapist in 1998 from the University of Malta. In 2003, he obtained a M.Sc. in Sports Injuries and Therapy from the Manchester Metropolitan University and in 2014 was awarded a PhD from Sheffield Hallam University (UK) having defended a thesis titled' The Bologna Process and Physiotherapy Education across Europe'.

He is a full time resident academic lecturer within the Physiotherapy Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta. He is a member on the Board of Studies and the Board of Examiners for the physiotherapy undergraduate programme and Masters by Research programmes. On a part-time basis he manages his own private practice and is the Managing Partner of a Maltese company that offers physical and sports medicine services.

Dr. Xerri de Caro is a WCPT Board Member elected from the European Region of WCPT and is a member of the Accreditation Committee of WCPT that oversees the accreditation of undergraduate physiotherapy programmes on request. He is also an Executive Committee member on the ER-WCPT.

He is a past-President of the Malta Association of Physiotherapists (2007 and 2012) and was the Focus Group Leader on Lifelong Learning within the European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (Enphe) between 2009 and 2012.
